Today marks the 30th Anniversary of Michael Jordan’s “Free Throw Line” Dunk, a magical moment in NBA history that to this day carries the wonder and excitement as it did on that day in 1988. To commemorate this moment, Jordan Brand will release a special version of the Air Jordan 3 Retro that features the classic “White/Cement” colorway with some added details that tell the story of MJ’s winning slam.   The outsole is now translucent, revealing a thick red stripe to represent the exact spot on the free throw line where MJ took flight. AJ III: The Air Jordan III was designed by Tinker Hatfield. By that time Michael Jordan was ready to leave Nike, but the Jordan III changed his mind. It was the first Air Jordan to feature a visible air unit on the heel, the new Jumpman logo, an elephant print trim and tumble leather to give it a luxury look.[3] The Air Jordan III was also famous for the humorous ads depicting Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon, the character he played in his film 'She's Gotta Have It'. This campaign was known as the "Mars and Mike" ad campaign, which was one of Nike's most successful advertisement campaigns.
